El impulso detrás de este álbum, desarrollado por MariellaBerthéas, era crear un homenaje a Albert Schweitzer al reunir a las dos tradiciones musicales que son fundamentales para su vida: las obras de JS Bach y las músicas de Gabón, donde dedicó su vida al servicio como misionero médico en la ciudad de Lambaréné. Llamar a esto un álbum crossover, sin embargo, sería tergiversar ella; esto no es una síntesis inteligente de dos tradiciones dispares. Es difícil de caracterizar la relación entre las dos culturas musicales. Christmas Spirituals is the name of two albums recorded by American folk singer Odetta. The first was released in 1960 on Vanguard Records. The second, a new recording of nearly all the same songs, produced by Rachel Faro at White Crowe Audio in Burlington, Vermont, was originally released in 1987 on Alcazar Records and was reissued digitally in 2007 on Ashe Records. Both albums feature Bill Lee, Spike Lee's father on double bass.

Jazz and blues have had their share of Christmas recordings over the years, and Christmas jazz can easily work alongside Christmas blues, which is what happens at Putumayo Presents: Jazz & Blues Christmas. This Christmas-oriented compilation has one foot in jazz and the other foot in blues; The ten-track CD is quite diverse, from vocal jazz in Canadian singer Emilie-Claire Barlow's playful rendition of "Santa Baby" to electric urban blues in B.B. King. Many of the tracks combine elements of jazz and blues, including Charles Brown's "Santa's Blues", Topsy Chapman's and Lars Edegran's cover of "The Christmas Blues" by Lars Edegran, and the arrangement of Dukes of Dukes of "Merry Christmas, Baby." An exceptional gathering of musicians from around the global village set a new standard for Christmas records on World Christmas. Transported by the swirling winds that illuminate the coasts of the eastern sea, the BandAdriatica rages on the agitated waves of Salento music with elements of all the Mediterranean sonic coasts as a complex “Babylon”, where the languages begin to harmonize on the popular melodies in the mestizo fervour of the harbours. That’s how the Apulian traditions take on a new resonance, starting from the frantic echoes of Salento music found in the sounds of folklore festivals, processions, funerals, serenades and night trips, taking it from country to country in ten years of research on the common musical matrices of the banks of the Adriatic Sea, reflecting themselves in the music of Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, the Serbian fanfare, North Africa and pushing up to the eastern Mediterranean. The performance of the band has fascinated the critics at Babel Med 2017 in Marseille who defined it as “one of the best proposals of the whole Festival” and “one of the best Italian live-act”. BandAdriatica has collaborated with artists such as Bombino, Mercan Dede, Rony Barrak, Savina Yannatou, Chieftains, Burhan Ochal, Kocani Orkestar, Boban Markovic Orchestra, Fanfara Tirana, Eva Quartet, Cafer Naziblas, Fanfare Ciocarlia e Michel Godard.
