The Emerald Tablet is a short, cryptic text attributed to the mythical Hermes Trismegistus, whose purpose is to reveal the secret of the primordial substance and its transmutations.
In the Emerald Tablet, all the art of the Great Work, the main objective of alchemy, is condensed or summarized.
Alchemy is the art of perfection and the Great Work implies its fulfillment, perfection. The Emerald Tablet contains in its few lines the secret of the Great Work, it is a direct passage to perfection.
The image on the cover of the album belongs to The Book of Hieroglyphic Figures by the alchemist FrancesNicolas Flamel, one of the greatest Adepts of all time.
Two years in a seminary were enough to leave in Jorge Ben Jor a permanent interest in philosophy, theology and alchemy (especially in the work of Tomas de Aquino, cited in several of his songs) Esa Pasion returns in 1974 with A Tabua de Esmeralda , one of the best albums of his long career.
